The University Hospital of South
Manchester NHS Foundation Trust operates
Wythenshawe Hospital and Withington Community
Hospital which provide a range of general health
services to the people of South Manchester and
specialist services for people from further
afield. It is a large teaching Trust with strong
education and research links with the
University of Manchester
Medical School and the School of Pharmacy.
Withington Hospital is an innovative community hospital,
providing outpatient and daycase facilities for
the local community, and be the forerunner in a
new type of healthcare delivery.
The Trust provides district, regional and
supraregional services.
Wythenshawe Hospital has a newly refurbished
Accident and Emergency Department as well as G.I.
Surgery, Paediatric Services, Obstetrics and
Gynaecology and all Orthopaedic Trauma.
It provides regional services in Respiratory
Medicine, Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
The hospital houses the 4th UK Transplant Centre
for Heart and Lung.
The hospital is also the base for the provision
of Mental Health Services to the residents of
South Manchester.
