Conjunctivitis

Chloramphenicol 0.5% eye drops/1% ointment
Apply 1 drop at least every 2 hours then reduce frequency as infection is controlled
Apply eye ointment either at night (if eye drops used during the day) or every 6 or 8 hours if ointment used alone.

Continue use for 48 hours after healing

N.B. Consider chlamydia if poor response to chloramphenicol and seek advice.
Chlamydial or gonococcal infections will need systemic antibiotics.
